Being heavily involved with various fundraising activities, we would like to introduce volunteering into our company, and make it a big part of what we do. Activity projects have been planned for our charities CACT, Mission care, Demelza and our partnered school Eltham Hill School.

As we are partnered with Eltham Hill School through the BITC business class scheme, we approached the vice principle to find out whether the students would like to take part. We have since received an overwhelming amount of interest from our staff members, as well as students from EHS to participate.

We hope our first venture into volunteering week is a success.

Following our involvement in a woman in leadership event at EHS, some of the Year 12 students (16 to 17 year olds) have requested to take part in some work experience with us and with our clients. 

The school’s work experience programme runs from Monday 23rd June until Monday 7th July 2014.

The event was organised for Year 9 pupils, to raise awareness of the different careers available to them, in order to develop their career aspiration. In small groups of 4, the students had the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the business women volunteers.

Pauline explained ‘As most of the pupils did not know what they wanted to do after school, myself and the other volunteers had the opportunity to talk to the pupils about the type of skills needed to succeed in the workplace. I hope we encouraged them to continue to work hard at school and have an understanding of the skills and tools needed for them succeed.’

We will continue to work closely with EHS and provide all the relevant help and support we can offer.

There were 5 x £20 vouchers to be won.

Everyone who responded to the letter advising them of the imminent date for auto-enrolment was entered into the Prize Draw and 5 winners have now been picked. The winners will be notified within the next week and will receive a £20 voucher for a shop of their choice.

The Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) has been developed by the ISSA and BBS (BICS Business Services) and is a consensus-based management standard geared around improving the professionalism of the cleaning industry.

The Standard gives a framework based on the following areas of management best practices:

• Quality systems
• Service delivery
• Human resources
• Health, safety, and environmental stewardship
• Management commitment

With Gary now being I.C.E qualified, he can assist our clients in preparing for CIMS certification to obtain Green Building accreditations. Congratulations Gary.
