Mental Health Awareness Training

In today’s fast-paced world, taking care of our mental health is more important than ever. To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week, we’ve set up some informative training sessions to help our colleagues support each other’s mental wellbeing. These sessions are all about giving us the tools and knowledge to create a truly supportive and empathetic work environment. Led by our Development & Wellbeing Partner, the training aims to give colleagues the skills to understand and manage mental health.

By the end of the Mental Health Awareness sessions, our colleagues are equipped to:

Gain an understanding of mental health: The sessions provide a thorough introduction to mental health. This breaks down common misconceptions and highlights the importance of mental wellbeing in our daily lives.

Feel confident in supporting their colleagues: Colleagues learn how to identify signs of mental distress and are encouraged to support their teammates with empathy and understanding.

Practice active listening: A significant portion of the training focuses on active listening. We define what this is, highlight it’s importance, and practical application in the workplace.

Know the correct procedures for return to work: Clear guidelines are provided on the procedures to follow when a colleague returns to work after a mental health-related absence, ensuring a smooth and sensitive transition.

Promote good mental health: Practical tips and strategies are shared on how to foster a culture that promotes good mental health, from daily practices to organisational policies.

We believe that a happy and healthy team is the backbone of our success. These training sessions are just one of the many ways we work to ensure our colleagues feel valued and supported. The Wellbeing Room at our Service Support Centre offers a sanctuary for those seeking a calm space while at work. Mental health is not a one-time discussion, but an ongoing commitment. We are a people and planet focused business, and will remain dedicated to maintaining a culture of care and empathy.

A Culture of Care

In line with our ‘Putting People First’ pillar, we continue to invest in initiatives that enhance our team’s wellbeing. Mental health is a journey, and we are proud to walk this path together, creating better places for everyone every day.
