At Regular Cleaning we put our people first – we focus on training, staff welfare, staff retention and motivation.
We strongly believe in developing our internal talent and would like to share Jose Lopez Lozano’s story.
Jose came to the UK from Colombia in 2003 and worked for various cleaning companies as a cleaning operative. He showed his capabilities and was promoted to a supervisor but started to experience ongoing issues with his pay.
He talked to a friend who worked at Regular Cleaning and explained the issues he was having and was told of a supervisory vacancy. Jose applied for the role and successfully joined Regular Cleaning in May 2017 at one of our Key Accounts in London.
Jose attended various training sessions with our QA & Training Manager Jimena Pulgarin. These include company induction, site induction, Health and Safety, Customer Service and Supervisors training to name but a few. Jimena gave Jose a structured plan to follow and provided ongoing support during this period.
Jose said that when he started working with us he noticed that there was a number of long serving employees not only at his site but throughout the business. Even though he knew the cleaning industry and what to do, he felt slightly intimidated at first and was determined to develop and improve his skills and show his ability.
Jose had seen a case study of one of our star supervisors Paula who is currently completing an ILM level 3 in Management. Reading the case study motivated Jose to contact the L&D team and talk through what qualification could work best for him. After discussing the different qualifications, he felt that Anderson and our management team really support and encourage employees to develop and progress within the business.
He is now completing a Level 2 Team Leading and Supervising qualification and says that the course, his Site Manager Anderson Cabrera and Jimena have boosted his confidence in his role and has provided him with the knowledge, skills and support to be successful in the supervisor’s role and future progression.
He describes his journey as being similar to a “Rubik’s Cube” – at first you are not sure how to solve it but you keep on putting in the effort and learning and with the skills you learn you are then able to solve it.
With no doubt the Team Leading and Supervisors course will provide Jose with the tools to develop his career with us. His aim is to continue with his studies and take a manager’s position in our Head Office within the next 5 years. We wish Jose every success and we support him in his development within the company.
