Corporate Social Responsibility – End Of Year Report

CACT
RCS have supported Charlton Athletic community projects for many years and are proud to be a Patron of CACT’s award winning Disability and Mental Health programme. The programme provides coaching for young people with disabilities and offers positive activities for young people with mental health issues.

Over the past 12 months RCS staff have been fund raising and involved in the following initiatives for the CACT Disability and Mental Health programme:

Ability Counts
RCS have been creative in their fund raising activities for the Ability Counts programme. Staff initiatives included a ‘Dress Down Day’, a ‘tea/coffee-athon’, a Christmas raffle and auction.

To date RCS have raised over £550.00 of the £1000 needed to keep the Ability Counts programme running, and there are plans to hold a boot sale in March with all proceeds going towards the Ability Counts programme.

Charlton Upbeats
A programme for children and adults with Down’s Syndrome. The Upbeats’ Garden at the Charlton Training Ground had a major overhaul this summer which was co-ordinated by RCS staff. Both RCS and Ruxley Manor Garden Centre provided plants for the garden.

The CACT co-ordinators, RCS and friends, the Upbeats and their families all got involved in the planting and it was a ‘blooming’ success. The garden flourished during the summer and in November RCS staff planted winter and spring plants to ensure a year round display. We will continue to maintain the garden in 2013.

The 2012 Upbeats Christmas Party was again sponsored and supported by RCS.

Kent Mental Health
Focuses on providing positive activities for young people and adults with mental health issues.

Towards the end of 2012 CACT was commissioned to deliver the Royal Greenwich Disabled Youth to Service Programme. Four programmes are now being run each week with 55 disabled young people between the ages of 11 – 24 years attending. RCS Managing Director David Sambrook said: “We would like to congratulate Barry Simmons and his colleagues at CACT for their achievements in 2012.

“We are pleased that we have been able to play our part in supporting these important programmes and I would especially like to thank the RCS staff members who have given up their spare time to assist the various projects and initiatives which took place throughout the year.”

RCS fund raising is not confined to CACT and Demelza – in December 2012 RCS staff raised £1,198 for The Alzheimer’s Society by taking part in the Santa Fun Run, in Greenwich Park.

Vicki Mills raised £42 for Cancer Research from selling snowflake badges. We have also supported suppliers, clients and staff in their own individual fundraising activities for Breast Cancer Awareness, St Luke’s Hospice, St Christopher’s Hospice, Prostate and Testicular Cancer and The British Heart Foundation.
